ABOUT

As a soon to be graduate of The Academy of Art University Garrett Thoma has been learning and training to be a costume designer for the past three years. His story into making and designing costumes started more than 7 years ago though, as a hobby. Soon after beginning he realized that he wanted to pursue costume design and making as his career. In 2020 enrolled into the BFA Costume Design program at The Academy of Art University to receive a degree and increase his knowledge and skills.

While a student Garrett worked for the Florentine Opera Company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a student intern where he helped work on several opera productions. Working on RigolettoRavel’s The Child and the Enchantments, Viardot’s Cinderella, and Goundod’s Roméo et Juliette he gained experience in the practice of theatre. Continuing to grow his experience and knowledge Garrett is constantly looking to the future for his next opportunity.
